This recipe for baked tofu is ideal for incorporating a high-protein ingredient into your sandwiches and salads. The tofu is enhanced in flavor by the marinade, which makes it a flexible ingredient in a variety of recipes.
Ingredients:
- 1 block tofu, extra firm
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400F 200C
Press the tofu to remove excess water by wrapping it in a clean kitchen towel and placing something heavy on top for about 15-20 minutes
Slice the tofu into thin rectangles or cubes, depending on your preference
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, maple syrup, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper
Arrange tofu slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
Brush the tofu slices evenly with the marinade mixture, ensuring each piece is well coated
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the tofu is golden brown and slightly crispy
Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before using in salads or sandwiches
